Owl’s Head Park (Old Man Jam Headquarters) Needs Your Help!

Sometimes I Love NY, but sometimes it sucks ass. Like when they say they are CLOSING OWL’S HEAD PARK SEPT. 5th FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR!!! That’s right, the financial wizards at parks and Recreation can’t seem to scrape enough minimum wage for the fellows that staff the park. Not only are we losing the best spot in NYC, but those dudes are out of work too!

We’re not gonna let ‘em chain up without a fight, so, to do your part by contacting the Parks and Recreation Commissioner Adrien Benepe at this link:

http://nyc.gov/html/mail/html/maildpr.html

Tell him what you think or you’ll be skating stairs with the kids.

For good measure, also contact State Senator Marty Golden and tell him you love the park and he’s gotta throw his weight around to keep it open. Remind him that you SAW HIM AT LAST YEAR’S OLD MAN JAM and had a great time. He was there!!!

Email him at: golden@senate.state.ny.us or call him yourself at 718-238-6044.

We’ll keep you posted on OLD MAN JAM 4 if/when we have a resolution. As always hit up the Bossman at 718-369-6342 for an up to the minute update. Happy complaining!

Rip the Ripper Book Out Now!

The Bossman is proud to annunce the Powell Rip the Ripper Art Show Book has finally arrived and it features over 50 artists, including the Bossman himself. It’s awesome, but don’t just take my word for it, take Powell’s-

“On January 23rd, 2009, Powell-Peralta hosted the Rip the Ripper Art Show. Fifty eight artists had pieces on display. The reason for the show was to celebrate The Ripper graphic. So many skaters and artists have been influenced by VCJs image over the years, we wanted to do something that would pay respect to VCJ and get skaters stoked. We invited a group of artists and asked them to interpret The Ripper in their own style. Curator: Desiree Astorga

The book is the culmination of passion, hard work and effort from this exhibit. It features the artwork that was created for The Rip the Ripper Art Show featured at ASR.”

This book is a dandy and can be purchased (along with the Bossman’s original piece The Stripper) by visiting:
